CEC holds discussions with State officials

CHENNAI, MARCH 15. The Chief Election Commissioner, T.S. Krishnamurthy, today held discussions with the Chief Secretary, Lakshmi Pranesh, the Chief Electoral Officer, Mrutyunjay Sarangi, other government officials and top police officers on the arrangements for the Lok Sabha elections in the State. Mr. Krishnamurthy is said to have asked the officials to provide adequate police forces in sensitive areas to enable the electorate exercise their franchise without any difficulty.

He also asked them to see the code of conduct was observed by parties in letter and spirit and there should not be any partiality while applying it. He wanted them to take immediate action on complaints registered by voters in complaints cell set up by the Commission in the district headquarters. The Home Secretary, S. Munir Hoda, the Director-General of Police, I.K. Govind, the City Police Commissioner, R. Natraj, and the Inspector-General of Police (Election Security), Vibakar Sharma, participated.
