Stalin denies code violation
By Our Special Correspondent
CHENNAI,
MARCH 16.
The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam deputy general secretary, M.K. Stalin, has denied that there was any violation of the model code of conduct in his distributing prizes for Pongal competitions in his constituency, Thousand Lights.
In a press release, Mr. Stalin said the competitions and the prize distribution functions were held much before the announcement of the Lok Sabha elections. He had sent details of the function to the Election Commission (EC).
The All-India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam earlier complained to the EC that Mr. Stalin and the party's Central Chennai candidate, Dayanidhi Maran had on March 6 distributed stainless steel plates and snack boxes in the constituency and that the event was publicised as if it were distribution of prizes for competitions held on the Pongal-eve.
