COIMBATORE, MARCH 15. Self-help groups which will function as district-wide sales agents for coconut coir mats and sanitary napkins, will be selected at an interview to be held at 10 a.m. on March 20, at the office of the Coimbatore District Rural Development Agency (DRDA). A number of self-help groups in Pollachi, Anaimalai, Avanashi, Gudimangalam and Kinathukkadavu panchayat unions had produced rope, footwear and mats from coir, and these products were now ready for sale at prices less than the prevailing market rate, a release said.
