COIMBATORE, MARCH 15. The awareness drive against child labour here, to sensitise conservancy workers in the district, has been extended till March 25 to cover temporary workers too. The programme is being organised by the Kovai Child Labour Abolition Support Society (CLASS). It started last month in Tirupur and is conducted in different parts of the district (Tirupur, Pollachi, Udumalpet and Mettupalayam) and in the city. Sources in the Kovai CLASS said that it was originally planned to complete the programme in all parts of the district by March 18. However, it was now extended till March 25, as temporary workers would also be covered under the programme. While there were nearly 4,000 permanent conservancy workers in the district, there were 800 temporary workers.
