TDP booklet: police file petition in court

By Our Staff Reporter

HYDETRABAD, MARCH 15. The Hyderabad police have filed a petition in a local court here on Monday seeking permission to register a case following direction from the Chief Election Officer, M. Narayana Rao, with regard to the controversy over a booklet published by the Telugu Desam Party.

As the matter referred to by the CEO fell under the category of non-cognizable offences, permission from a magistrate was compulsory to initiate proceedings, the Hyderabad Police Commissioner, R.P. Singh, said on Tuesday. "So far, we have not registered any case, but are studying the related Acts," he said.
