BANGALORE, MARCH 15. A second pre-university (PU) student was murdered, allegedly by his cousins, one of them a 10th standard student, over a property dispute. The body of Shivanna (20) was found behind a school building near his house at Lohithanagar in Nelamangala police station limits on Monday morning. Police said Shivanna, a student of the Government P.U. College Nelamangala, was the son of Hanumaiah, a farmer. They said they suspected his cousins, Manjunath and Ananth Kumar, a tenth standard student, who are brothers, stabbed Shivanna on Sunday night. Police said the youths' fathers, Hanumaiah and his brother, Halugappa, fought over the compensation they had got for land taken over by the National Highways Authority of India. On Sunday night, Manjunath and Ananth Kumar confronted Shivanna, according to the police. During the quarrel, they allegedly killed him, the police said. Nelamangala police have registered a case.
Four run over by trains: Four persons were run over by trains in as many incidents in and around Bangalore on Monday. The police said Shiva Kumar alias Ava (35) of Mohammedan Block at Malleswaram was found dead on a railway line near the Malleswaram railway station. The body of Shiva Kumar (30) of Flower Garden on Mysore Road was found on the track between the city and Yeshwantpur railway stations. The police said Kumar was run over when he fell from a train. Two men aged around 60 were run over by trains, one near the Cantonment Railway Station and the other on the Hejjala-Bidadi railway line in Bangalore Rural district. The police said that the two persons, who have not been identified, apparently committed suicide. Man found dead: A 60-year-old man was found dead on Platform No. 6 at the City Railway station on Monday.
Two men murdered: Two men were found murdered in Bangalore city and Bangalore Rural district on Monday. The police said the body of a man aged around 25 was found in a well at the Military Dairy Farm on Bellary Road. The man, who has not been identified, was strangled to death, and a noose was found around his neck, according to the police. Hebbal police have registered a case. In Kodihalli police station limits in Kanakapura taluk of Bangalore Rural district, Raju (35) was found murdered in front of an arrack shop at Kotekoppa village. Woman arrested: Banaswadi police on Monday arrested Varalakshmi (26) of Rajanakunte on charges of cheating. They said she allegedly collected large sums from several people by promising to get houses allotted for them from the Karnataka Housing Board.
Two killed in accidents: An autorickshaw driver, M. Venkatesh (30), was killed on the spot when his vehicle overturned near Kogilu Cross in Yelahanka police station limits at 12.30 a.m. on Monday. A man aged around 35 died when he was hit by a lorry near Ashraya Hospital in Kumaraswamy Layout, off Kanakapura Road, on Sunday night. He has not been identified.
Two-wheelers recovered: Ramamurthynagar police on Saturday arrested Vinod alias Sreenivasa (18) of Bovi Colony and recovered from him nine two-wheelers worth Rs. 3.25 lakh.
