5 Iraqis killed in U.S. fire?
TIKRIT (IRAQ),
MARCH 16.
The U.S. military said on Tuesday it was investigating a reported incident in which five Iraqis from the same family were killed, allegedly by American troops.
Maj. Gen. John Batiste, commander of the 1st Infantry Division, said an investigation was under way into reports of a shooting incident in a village in Baqouba. Surviving family members said the U.S. troops fired on them on Saturday in the village of Zham. Two of those killed were children. Five people were wounded. The family's two-room mud-house was littered with bullet holes.
