Reacting to the warm response of the home crowd during the series opener at Karachi last Saturday, Indian opener Virender Sehwag rejected the view that the Pakistani crowd was hostile towards the Indians. "We received a very encouraging response from the people. The crowd was fantastic. I really enjoyed the game," a daily quoted him as saying. About the ongoing tour and his performance, he said, "It's been a fantastic tour so far, and I hope to play some memorable innings in the coming matches."
Indian team manager Amrit Mathur expressed hope that the Pakistan team would receive the same response when it visits India for a return series, efforts for which had already started. He said it was terrific to see the Pakistani crowd backing and applauding the Indian players when they were batting.
