Cole sinking: 8 recaptured

SAN'A YEMEN, MARCH 16. Eight of the 10 suspects in the 2000 terrorist bombing of a U.S. Navy destroyer who escaped from jail nearly a year ago have been recaptured, the Government announced today.

The 10 suspects broke out of jail the southern port city of Aden on April 11, embarrassing the Yemeni Government. It had offered a 1 million Yemeni Riyals ($8,300) reward for any information on them, leading to their arrest.

The 10 were held in connection with the bombing of the USS Cole in Aden Port that killed 17 American soldiers.

The Interior Minister, Rashad al-Eleimi, said the recapture was the result of increased cooperation with Saudi Arabia. He refused to elaborate.
