On the basis of supplies of yarn, the handloom industry is expected to have produced 1,200 million yards, during 1953. The target for production for 1955-56 under the Five Year Plan is 1,700 million yards. Annual exports of handloom cloth have ranged from 40 to 60 million yards valued at six to eleven crores of rupees.
