THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, MARCH 17. The Cabinet on Wednesday decided to make no changes to the abkari policy until after the elections. The Chief Minister told presspersons after the Cabinet meeting that the policy on Indian made foreign liquor would be reviewed after three months. The current year's policy on toddy would remain unchanged in the coming financial year. The details would be worked out by the officials. Mr. Antony said that the Cabinet had approved the memorandum of understanding for the takeover of the Aralam farm from the Central Government by the State Government for Rs. 42 crores. Half of the land belonging to the 7,000-acre farm would be distributed to the tribals. The balance would be retained as farm. The State Government would pay Rs. 15 crores to the Centre immediately as the first instalment of the value. He said that the eight-acre plot belonging to the Alappuzha Medical College would be transferred to the State Institute of Virology and Infectious Diseases.
