PATHANAMTHITTA, MARCH 17. The Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) has released water from the Kochu Pampa reservoir of the Sabarigiri hydro-electric project into the Pampa river following a request from the Pathanamthitta District Collector, Rabeendra Kumar Agarwal. The dam water, which was released on Tuesday night, reached Pampa on the foothills of Sabarimala by early this morning and the Kerala Water Authority resumed operations at its Triveni pump house in the morning itself. The Sabarimala Devaswom executive officer, R. Krishnan Nair, said the release of water had resolved the acute water scarcity at Sannidhanam to a great extent. He said the water supply to the Devaswom guest house, accommodation centres and other TDB establishments at Sabarimala had been resumed from this morning. However, Mr. Nair said, the Sahasrakalasam ritual originally scheduled for Thursday would remain postponed as it was decided before the release of water from the KSEB reservoir. The Ayyappa temple will be closed tomorrow evening after the five-day monthly poojas. The temple will be opened on April 3 afternoon for the Painguni Uthram celebrations on April 4.
