The `shove' and its effect

By Our Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD, MARCH 17. The National Security Guards (NSG), accompanying the Deputy Prime Minister, L.K. Advani, has been replaced with another team after the Tuesday's incident in which they physically prevented the Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, from moving ahead near the RTC cross roads.

Though the incident was sought to be dismissed as a very minor one officially, intelligence agencies were reported to have sent a report on the development in which NSG commandos and the Chief Minister's security guards moved menacingly at each other after Mr. Naidu was `shoved' aside by the Black Cats. Mr. Naidu was following the Deputy Prime Minister a few paces behind and was `stopped' physically.

NSG officials, who are supposed to maintain liaison with the State security officials, were stated to have expressed regrets over the incident, which they maintained was an outcome of the `fatigue' factor.

Sources disclosed that ever since Mr. Advani had begun his `Bharat uday yatra,' NSG contingents have been accompanying him without any rest. When Mr. Advani embarked on his yatra in the State on Wednesday, a new contingent took over the job of protecting him.

Sources also disclosed that there were heated arguments between NSG coordinators and the State police officers over seating of personal security guards in specified vehicles in the convoy of Mr. Advani. The State officials had objected to the proposal of NSG officers that some State security guards be removed from some vehicles to accommodate NSG commandoes. It is said that the State officials had turned down the `order' saying that they could not make any alterations to the approved seating arrangements and movement of vehicles in the convoy.
