CHAMARAJANAGAR, MARCH 17. The number of voters in the five Assembly constituencies in the district has increased by 56,201, according to the revised voter's list. As against the 7,06,440 voters registered during the 1999 elections, 7,62,641 voters will exercise their franchise this time. The five constituencies have witnessed a marked increase in the number of voters. In Chamarajanagar Assembly constituency, there are 1,63,402 voters (82,227 men and 81,152 women) as against the 1,54,346 voters registered during the1999 elections, while in the Gundlupet Assembly constituency, there are 1,55,776 voters (78,012 men and 77,749 women) as against 1,45,325 voters who exercised their franchise during the previous polls. In the Hanur Assembly constituency, which has the highest number of voters in the district, there are 1,62,590 voters (82,390 men and 80,166 women) as against the 1,49,167 voters in the 1999 elections. In the Kollegal Assembly (reserved) constituency, there are 1,48,297 voters (75,333 men and 72,941 women) as against the 1,35,235 voters who exercised their franchise in the previous polls. In the Santhemaralli Assembly (reserved) constituency, which had 1,22,367 voters in the 1999 elections, there are 1,32,576 voters (67,215 men and 65,346 women). There has been a net increase of 7.5 per cent in the electorate in the Chamarajanagar Lok Sabha constituency with 11,91,164 voters as against the 11,01,757 voters in the 1999 elections.
