Telephone bills

COIMBATORE, MARCH 17. Telephone bills dated March 7, for subscribers under the Coimbatore Telecommunications, have been despatched. BSNL customers have been asked to pay the bills before the pay date (March 29) at any of the collection centres or at the designated branches of Indian Bank, Syndicate Bank and Karur Vysya Bank. Payments are also accepted for seven days after the pay-by-date with surcharge at the designated branches of Indian Bank and the following post offices: R.S. Puram, Coimbatore HPO, Mettupalayam, Tirupur, Palladam, Pollachi, Udumalpet, Avinashi and Anamalai.

Camp

PSG Hospitals will organise a free hypertension detection camp on March 21 on the hospital premises. According to a release, free consultation and diet counselling will be provided for the patients. For details contact: (0422) 2570170, 2598822 or 98423 57017.

A free eye camp will be organised jointly by the Department of Public Health and the Coimbatore District Blindness Control Society on March 22 at Government Primary Health Centre, Thudiyalur.

Conference

The Coimbatore chapter of the Institution of Engineers (India) and the Department of Textile Technology of the PSG College of Technology will organise a national conference on `innovations in textile processes and products' on March 19.

According to a release, the 17th national convention of textile engineers and the conference will be inaugurated by the Chairman of the Powerloom Development and Export Promotion Council (PDEXCIL), M. Senthil Kumar.

Vitamin drops

Vitamin A drops would be administered to all children aged below five between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. at 183 centres of the Coimbatore Corporation from March 18 to 20. In a release, the Corporation said that the drive was aimed at eliminating vision-related problems in children. The camp would be held at noon meal centres, pharmacies and maternity centres of the Corporation. In all, 94,746 children would benefit from the camp, the release said.
