No plan to contest for LS from Telangana: Vijayashanti

By Our Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD, MARCH 18. Film actress and Bharatiya Janata Party Mahila Morcha's national vice-president, Vijayashanti, has said that she has no intentions of contesting the Lok Sabha poll from any constituency in Telangana.

In a statement here on Thursday, Ms. Vijayashanti referred to the criticism that she was supporting the Telangana issue with an eye on the Warangal Lok Sabha seat, and asserted that she was not in politics for the sake of posts. "That is not my plan. I just call a spade a spade when it comes to that."

She said her priority was development of Telangana and happiness of its people. She would not strive to convert her commitment into votes to become an MP.

She welcomed the statement of the Deputy Prime Minister, L. K. Advani, that there could be bifurcation of the State if the Assembly approved such a proposal. It proved that the BJP was agreeable to smaller States. On the other hand, the Congress which, lacked clarity on the issue was confusing people for political mileage.
