METPALLY (KARIMNAGAR DT.), MARCH 18. The Deputy Prime Minister, L. K Advani, has called upon the extremist groups to shun violence and join mainstream of society. Addressing roadside meetings in Medipalli, Korutla and Metpally towns in the district as part of the Bharat Uday Yatra on Thursday, Mr. Advani said there was no place for violence in a democratic set up. He said the extremists, through violence were neither doing justice to the people nor for themselves. He said the ballot was the solution to all problems. Quoting incidents of violence in Assam, Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab, where normalcy had returned due to revolt from the people against violence and destruction, he hoped that the peace and tranquillity would also prevail in Andhra Pradesh with people rejecting extremist violence. On the utilisation of surplus Godavari waters, he said the BJP Government was committed to the utilisation of Godavari waters for all upland areas of the region and transformation of the area. He said the Government was also examining the linkage of rivers for a permanent solution to drought in the country. He called upon voters to cast their vote in favour of the BJP and the TDP for making the country one of the best in the next five years. The Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, Ch. Vidyasagar Rao, the Union Minister of State for Urban Development, Bandaru Dattatreya, the BJP State president, N. Indrasena Reddy, the former MLA, T. Venkataramana Reddy, and others were present.
