PONDICHERRY, MARCH 18. A communication received from election authorities by the Congress yesterday stated that the removal of party flag and flag mast on the premises of the Mudaliarpet block committee on March 12 was done by a squad out of over-enthusiasm and without any intention. As soon as a protest was made by P. Kannan, former Home Minister, on Tuesday against the uprooting of the flag mast and attempt to damage the nameboard on the party premises, a letter was received from the Assistant Returning Officer stating that it was not intentionally done, according to Mr. Kannan. The flagmast removed from the premises was restored to the party.
