Inflation falls below 5 p.c.
NEW DELHI,
MARCH 19.
After 16 weeks of over 5 per cent, the inflation rate fell to 4.91 per cent during the week ended March 6 due to sharp fall in prices of vegetables, wheat, fuel products and manufactured items including food products. The Wholesale Price Index (WPI) inflation for the latest reported week fell by 0.41 per cent from 5.32 per cent in the previous week. The inflation was as high as 5.74 per cent a year-ago.
The WPI declined by 0.2 per cent to 179.6 in the latest reported week with all the major indices of primary, fuels and manufactured products moving downwards and the index was 171.2 points in the previous year period. PTI
