BJD list of LS candidates

BHUBANESWAR, MARCH 19. The ruling Biju Janata Dal today announced candidates for the 12 Lok Sabha seats that the party will contest.

The Chief Minister and BJD president, Naveen Patnaik, released the list of candidates.

The party is yet to make up its mind on the list of its candidates for the 84 Assembly seats.

The list is expected on Sunday.

The 12 nominees for the Lok Sabha are the Union Water Resources Minister, Arjun Charan Sethi for the Bhadrak seat; the Union Minister for Steel and Mines, Braja Kishore Tripathy for Puri; the former Orissa High Court Judge, M. Papanna for Koraput; Mohan Jena for Jajpur; Archana Nayak for Kendrapara; Harihar Swain for Aska; Bhartruhari Mahtab for Cuttack; Tathagat Satpathy for Dhenkanal; Prasanna Patsani for Bhubaneswar; Brahmananda Panda for Jagatsinghpur; Prasanna Acharya for Sambalpur; and Sugrib Singh for Phulbani.

The list contains six new faces including Ms. Nayak who joined the party after quitting the Congress two days ago.
