Mainly clear sky forecast

NEW DELHI MARCH 19. A mainly clear sky has been forecast for the Capital on Saturday. The maximum and minimum temperatures would hover around 35 and 19 degrees Celsius.

The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded at Safdarjung on Friday were 35.9 and 20 degrees Celsius, while Palam recorded a maximum of 35.7 degrees and a minimum of 18.5 degrees Celsius.

At Safdarjung, the maximum humidity was recorded at 72 per cent, while at Palam it stood at 85 per cent. Safdarjung recorded a minimum humidity of 26 per cent, while at Palam the minimum humidity was recorded at 21 per cent.

Held for murder bid

NEW DELHI MARCH 19. A woman has been arrested on the charge of trying to kill her eight-year-old stepson at Hazrat Nizamuddin in South Delhi on Wednesday. The victim is stated to be out of danger.

According to the police, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) authorities informed them that a boy, Shiva, had been admitted to the hospital with head injuries. In his statement, Shiva alleged that his stepmother, Mamta, tried to strangle him and hit him in the head with a stone.

Found murdered

NEW DELHI MARCH 19. A registered bad character of Gokalpuri police station in North-East Delhi was found stabbed to death under mysterious circumstances today. A personal rivalry is suspected to be behind the murder.

According to the police, Mohammad Adil went out of his house on Thursday evening saying he would return soon. However, he did not turn up. Around 1-30 p.m. today, his body was found dumped in a culvert near his house. The body bore a cut on the neck and stab wounds in other parts. A case of murder has been registered and investigations are on to identify the accused.

Woman, hired goons arrested

NEW DELHI MARCH 19. A 56-year-old woman staff of Rosewood Public School and six of her "pehalwan" accomplices were arrested on charges of threatening the school management over some dispute at Prashant Vihar in North-West Delhi today.

This morning, the police received a complaint that Surenderjit Kaur, who worked for Rosewood School at Prashant Vihar, had come to the school along with her goons to threaten the chairman and other management officials. Accordingly, the police reached the spot and arrested Surenderjit along with six of her accomplices, who disclosed that they were "pehalwans".

While a case of rioting has been registered at Prashant Vihar police station, the police have launched a hunt for some other "pehalwans" who were reportedly with Surenderjit during the whole episode.
