CPI (ML-L) forms campaign panel

By Our Staff Reporter

PONDICHERRY, MARCH 20. A 51-member poll campaign committee has been formed under the chairmanship of G.A. Jagannathan by the Pondicherry State committee of the Communist Party of India (Marxist Leninist-Liberation) party, which has fielded its secretary, S. Balasubramanian, in the Lok Sabha election.

A meeting of the committee held here today criticised the ``opportunistic'' alliance the Congress had formed with the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, the Pattali Makkal Katchi, the Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and a few other parties to contest the seat here. It criticised the DMK and its allies for the ``unprincipled'' alliance. These parties shared power with the Bharatiya Janata Party in the National Democratic Alliance Government till recently but were now criticising the BJP. The voters in the Union Territory should understand the ``anti-people policies of these parties'' and should defeat the alliance. The voters should also rout the BJP-AIADMK combine, as the policies of these parties were not helpful to the people. The meeting called upon the voters to support the nominee fielded by the CPI (M.L Liberation) at the poll.

The party's politburo member, V. Shankar, and the candidate spoke.
