Training camps for Rajasthan priests
By Our Special Correspondent
JAIPUR,
MARCH 20
. Priests of temples managed by the Rajasthan Government's Devasthan Department are being tutored on the rites and maintenance of decorum at the places of worship in a series of special training camps, which will continue till the first week of next month.
The Devasthan Department's Commissioner, Fateh Krishna Kalla, said here today that the training would enable the priests to conduct the rituals in accordance with the "Shastras." The quality of temple services is likely to improve after the training.
The camps are being held in each division of the State and in Brindavan, where the Devasthan Department oversees a few temples. The next camp will be organised for the priests of Jaipur and Ajmer divisions at Pushkar in April.
Mr. Kalla said the Government had provided funds to the temples for keeping the premises clean, growing trees and purchasing new vessels for the `bhog' (offering) rituals and new musical instruments for `keertan' (singing of hymns).
The improvement in the atmosphere of temples was on the Government's high priority.
