HYDERABAD, MARCH 20. The Governor, S.S. Barnala, the Chief Minister, N. Chandrababu Naidu, the Union Minister for Urban Development, Bandaru Dattatreya, and the former CLP leader, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, were among those who greeted people on the occasion of Ugadi. Mr. Barnala said apart from being a festival of joy, Ugadi was a symbol of harmony, friendship and unity among all people. Mr. Chandrababu Naidu wished all Telugus in the State, the country and elsewhere in the world a happy Ugadi and recalled the `effort' that had gone into Telugu culture, tradition, language, arts and welfare of different artistes for the past nine years. He wished a `golden' future for each and everyone of the Telugu people. Dr. Rajasekhara Reddy wished that there would be plenty of rain and that farmers would get good yield and also remunerative prices in the new year. The year would also bring empowerment to women in particular and would mean a glorious future to youth. Mr. Dattatreya reminded the Telugu people that Ugadi was the first festival of the year and said that the happiness this festival gave would keep them happy throughout the year.
