HYDERABAD, MARCH 20 . The Andhra Pradesh Kapunadu, a political platform for Kapu, Telaga, Balija and other backward class communities, has sought a fair deal in allotment of ticket for the ensuing elections. Miryala Venkata Rao and other leaders of Kapunadu, at a press conference on Saturday, expressed their displeasure over the trend of a few communities cornering the major chunk of seats at the cost of other sections of the population. Mr. Rao said the Kapunadu had earlier represented to the TDP president, N. Chandrababu Naidu, seeking ticket for over 80 Assembly and 13 Lok Sabha seats for various BC communities. They sought ticket to contest from Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, East/West Godavari, Krishna, Guntur, Prakasam, Nellore, Chittoor, Cuddapah, Kurnool and Anantapur districts. A similar demand was made to the AP Congress Committee leadership. Mr. Naidu, according to Kapunadu leaders, had promised to consider their demand. Mr. Rao warned that if the demand was not considered, the Kapunadu would not hesitate to put up its own candidates, where the communities had strong presence, and ensure defeat of major political parties. The organisation, he said, had planned to convene a meeting soon of BCs and other neglected communities to evolve a strategy. He wanted different parties to include in their manifestos their demand to incorporate the communities constituting the Kapunadu in the list of BCs. B. Gopalakrishna, adviser (Rayalaseema region), S. Venkateswara Rao, State convener, B. Satyanarayana and K. Appa Rao, joint conveners of Kapunadu, were present at the press conference.
