Varun denies anti-Sonia remark

By Our Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI, MARCH 20. Feroze Varun Gandhi today dismissed the statement attributed to him that "India will never be ruled by a person with white skin'' as a deliberate attempt to create mischief.

Responding to a reaction by the Congress, Mr. Gandhi said in a statement that he had never made any such statement. "It reflects neither my thinking nor my language. The press needs to be vigilant against such irresponsible and motivated rumours''.

The Congress spokesperson, Anand Sharma, responding to the report circulated by a news agency, said it was a statement by the Bharatiya Janata Party leader, Vinay Katiyar, and not that of Mr. Gandhi.
