CHENNAI, MARCH 20. World champion, India, will begin the defence of its title in the Asia Cup junior hockey championship in Karachi from April 20 to 29. With the FIH having eliminated the automatic qualifier norm for the defending champion, India, which won the World Cup at Hobart in 2001, will have to qualify for the 2005 edition in Holland from the Asia Cup. India is placed in Group B along with China, Sri Lanka, Bangaldesh and Malaysia, while host, Pakistan, heads pool A with South Korea, Chinese Taipei, Japan and Singapore. India begins its campaign on April 21 against China, and plays Sri Lanka on April 22, Bangaladesh on April 24 and Malaysia on April 25. The final is slated for April 29.
