PHAGWARA, MARCH 20. The foundation stone of World Sikh University (WSU) would be laid down during this year at Guru Bir Gurdwara Jand Sahib in Chamkaur Sahib on a sprawling area of 452 acres of land which had been donated by eight villages way back in 1996. Jaswant Singh Mann, president of World Sikh Foundation which is sponsoring the idea of setting up of the University, said here today that the issue of WSU was taken up in recent meeting of the State Advisory Committee which met under the Chairmanship of the Chief Minister, Amarinder Singh, and was attended by delegates from all over the world. The University would come up in commemoration of the three centennial Khalsa celebrations including fifth centenary of birth anniversary of Guru Angad Dev Ji, second Guru of Sikhs, fourth centenary of the installation of holy Guru Granth Sahib and the third centenary of the martyrdom of Sahibzadas, all falling this year, Mr. Mann said. -- PTI
