NEW DELHI, MARCH 20. A Delhi court has directed the Programme Staff Association of All India Radio and Doordarshan not to hold elections to its various offices till March 24. The Civil Judge, Vidya Prakash, passed the stay order on a plaint by A.N. Rai, an employee of AIR. In the order, the Civil Judge said: "On seeing the entire conduct of the defendant (the association), the court is of the view that its counsel deliberately neglected to argue the injunction application filed by Mr. Rai, and its intention is to change the office-bearers of the above-mentioned association to make the main relief of the plaintiff infructuous.'' The plaintiff has also filed a criminal complaint against the association accusing it of cheating thousands of employees of Doordarshan and AIR by collecting membership fee from them, despite being an unregistered body. The case is in the court of the Metropolitan Magistrate, Sanjeev Jain, and slated to come up for hearing on June 4. The plaintiff moved the court when it came to know that the association was collecting funds in the name of fighting the case against it and holding elections to the offices, despite the fact that the injunction application was pending. In the injunction application, the plaintiff has urged the court to restrain the "fake'' body from representing itself as a forum before the city Government or any authority concerned.
