NEW DELHI, MARCH 20. A 42-year-old woman was found charred to death outside her house at Punjabi Bagh in West Delhi today. The deceased was apparently suffering from some mental disorder following a severe head injury. According to the police, the body of Veena, wife of Om Prakash, a non-commissioned officer in the Army and a resident of Madipur in Punjabi Bagh, was spotted by a passer-by outside her house early in the morning. He then informed the family. Preliminary investigations revealed that the entire family, Veena, Om Prakash - who had come on leave from Ludhiana where he is presently posted -- and sons, Manoj (22), Vinod (21) and Rohit (18), had gone to sleep by 11 p.m. They were not aware as to how Veena got burnt and then went out of the house. About 10 years ago, Veena had fallen from the terrace of her house and suffered serious head injury. Since then she was being treated for some mental problem. Punjabi Bagh police are conducting further inquiries to ascertain the reasons behind the incident.
