A windy Sunday on cards

NEW DELHI MARCH 20. A mainly clear sky with possibility of strong surface winds during the day has been forecast for the Capital on Sunday. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 34 and 19 degrees Celsius.

The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded at Safdarjung on Saturday were 35.1 and 21.2 degrees Celsius, while Palam recorded a maximum of 35.2 degrees and a minimum of 17.6 degrees Celsius.

At Safdarjung, the maximum humidity recorded was 69 per cent, while at Palam it was 75 per cent. Safdarjung recorded a minimum humidity of 28 per cent, while at Palam the minimum humidity was 21 per cent.

Man attacks PCR staff

NEW DELHI MARCH 20. A 32-year-old man allegedly stabbed a Police Control Room personnel when he reached his place on a call made by his father-in-law following an argument late on Friday night.

According to the police, Sunil Kant, a resident of R.K. Puram Sector-8 in South-West Delhi, had gone to his father-in-law's house at Shyam Vihar, Phase-II, Najafgarh, last night to meet his wife. However, his father-in-law objected to his presence. This led to a heated argument between the two following which he called the Police Control Room around midnight.

When a PCR van arrived and Constable Minge began making inquiries, an enraged Sunil allegedly stabbed him on the neck. Minge's colleagues, however, managed to overpower him. Minge was taken to hospital and discharged after first-aid as the injury was not serious.

It came to light that Sunil and his wife were not on good terms and she had been staying with her parents for the past few days. Sunil had gone there apparently to bring her back. The Najafgarh police have registered a case and arrested Sunil.

Youngster stabbed by brothers-in-law

NEW DELHI MARCH. 20. A 28-year-old man was stabbed to death allegedly by his brothers-in-law at Seelampur in North-East Delhi today.

According to the police, Sandeep, a resident of Loni at Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh, had gone to meet his wife, Tabassum, who was staying with her brothers in gali No. 21 of Jaffrabad in Seelampur. As soon as he reached there, his brother-in-law, Javed (22), stabbed him several times. Two other brothers, Jubair and Rashid, also helped him in pin down Sandeep who died on the spot.
