CHENNAI, MARCH 20. The people will not be carried away by the Chief Minister, Jayalalithaa's "false" propaganda against the Congress president and will teach her a lesson in the Lok Sabha election, S.R. Balasubramanian, leader of the State Congress Legislature Party, said here today. In a statement, Mr.Balasubramanian said forces, which earlier ganged up on the late Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi, now joined again to oppose the secular and socialist front led by the Congress. As these forces were not able to fight the secular forces politically, they were indulging in "cheap politics." Their attempts would, however, fail. Criticising the Chief Minister for "acting against democratic norms," Mr.Balasubramanian said that in a parliamentary democracy, neither the Prime Minister nor the Chief Minister could take independent decisions. They should be taken collectively by the Council of Ministers and had to be approved by the President or the Governor, he said.
