VIZIANAGARAM, MARCH 20. As per the directive of the Department of Culture, M.R. Governent Music and Dance College here is conducting summer camps in music and dance. Christened `Kala Parichayam', the camp will be conducted for 40 days from April 30, according to the college Principal, P.V.S. Seshaiah Sastry. At a press conference here on Saturday, Mr. Sastry said that the primary objective of conducting the camps was to teach the basics in music and dance and also to promote Indian culture. He said the participants would be taught Annamacharya, Purandardas and Ramdas `keertanas', besides Hindustani music. Mr. Sastry said the camps would be conducted simultaneously in 20 centres in the three north coastal districts. Former students of the college would teach at the centres under the supervision of college lecturers. An amount of Rs. 50 would be collected from each participant. Half of it would be paid as honorarium to the trainer. The department would issue certificates to the participants at the end of the camp.
