KOCHI, MARCH 20. A campaign to make Vaduthala a `liquor-free' area was launched today under the leadership of the KCBC Samyukta Samara Samithy, which started with a move to close down the IMFL outlet in the area. A public meeting held this evening in Vaduthala was inaugurated by the Ombudsman, K P Radhakrishna Menon. This move make the area liquor-free comes in the backdrop of the Minister for Excise and Fisheries, K V Thomas, announcing that the IMFL outlet would be closed down soon. The samithy had embarked on a 960-day struggle, demanding the closure of the outlet. A rally was also taken out.
