BANGALORE, MARCH 20. Class X students and cricket fans have one thing less to sweat about on Sunday - there will be no load shedding. But it is not just the India-Pakistan match that KPTCL officials must worry about; Sunday is also `Ugadi,' the New Year festival in Karnataka. "That is why we plan to ensure uninterrupted power supply on Sunday," N. Vijayanarasimha, KPTCL, Chief Engineer, (Load Despatch Centre), told The Hindu on Saturday. "On Sundays, we usually get some relief because industrial consumption - normally five to six million units - comes down. This time around, that power will be used up by the festival and the match," he explained. Mr. Vijayanarasimha said in rural areas, KPTCL would provide an extra 30 to 45 minutes of single phase supply in the mornings. "This is because of the SSLC examinations that begin on March 22. We will ensure this supply till the examinations end on March 29," he added.
