KOTTAYAM, MARCH 21. The Chief Minister, A.K. Antony, today said the Government would come up with a comprehensive rehabilitation programme for farmers affected by the current spell of drought as soon as the Lok Sabha elections were over. He was speaking to presspersons at Neendoor during his visit to drought-hit agricultural tracts in the district. The Government has stopped all loan recovery proceedings against farmers and has also requested banks to suspend recovery of loans from them. The Government fully appreciated the demand for enhanced compensation to farmers who had lost their crop because of the drought. The State was submitting a revised memorandum to the Centre for more assistance.
