THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, MARCH 21. Two new counters would be opened at the Medical College Hospital from March 22 for distributing out-patient tickets, the Health Minister, Kadavoor Sivadasan, has said. More staff would be deployed for this purpose. At present, there are only two out-patient (OP) counters at the Medical College Hospital. Once the new counters start functioning, the long queues and extended waiting time could be reduced, the Minister said. If required, more counters would be opened, he added. The Government had conducted a preliminary enquiry into the complaint that there was a racket functioning in the Medical College Hospital, centred around the OP ticket counters and had found that there were people who took extra money from those standing at the back of the queues for getting them OP tickets ahead of others.
