VISAKHAPATNAM, MARCH 21. Sri Rama Navami Mahotsava Nirvahana Samithi will take out Sri Rama sobhayatra (rally) here on April 4 for universal peace and harmony. A large number of representatives from Sri Rama temples and other spiritual organisations are expected to take part in the rally. The procession will be led by well-decorated temple chariots with portraits of Hindu Gods, amidst `mangala vadyams', veda and Gita chanting and `bhajans'. The procession will be flagged-off by eminent spiritual persons of the city and the members of the Margadarsika Mandali from Sri Purnananda Samajam, according to the samithi president, Sirigiri Vasudeva Rao, and the general secretary, Chavali Visweswara Rao. The main highlight of the procession will be the huge tableaux (built on trailers) depicting Sri Rama Katha with high technical skill, sound and lighting effects. The yatra is being organised as part of Sri Rama Navami celebrations which began on Sunday. The samithi was organising `Sri Rama Nama Lekhana Yagnam', recitation competitions on `Krishna Satakam', discourses on Ramayana and release of `Sundara Kandam' (Bala Ramayanam) in Telugu `Dwipada' verse. The celebrations will conclude with programmes on devotional classical music and `Sri Rama Samaradhana'. The samithi has nominated Acharya Appala Someswara Sarma, Mattapalli Chalamayya and V.V. Ranganadham as its honorary presidents, Bugatha Appa Rao as treasurer, Buddha Rama Rao as secretary, and Seethapathi Rao as organising secretary. The objective of the celebrations is to inspire people to emulate the sacrifices and virtues of Sri Rama and Sita and work for peace and well-being of the mankind.
