Temperature

TIRUCHI, MARCH 21. The city today registered a maximum temperature of 38.9 degree Celsius and a minimum of 23.2 degree Celsius.

Awareness camp

The District Rural Development Agency, in association with the Nehru Yuva Kendra, conducted an awareness camp on the total sanitation programme in the Nambukurichi panchayat in the Pullambadi Union recently.

The village president, Nagamma Chinnasamy, presided. The Block Development Officer, S. Durairaj, and the district coordinator of the total sanitation campaign, Jennet Virginia, emphasised the importance of constructing individual toilets.

Training

A three-day training programme on decoration of flowers, making flower vase, dolls, greeting cards and sandalwood garlands was organised for teachers of government middle schools, at Manapparai, under the aegis of the Sarva Siksha Abhiyan.

Kumbhabishekam

The ashtabandana mahakumbhabishekam of the Ananda Ganapaty Temple at Lalgudi was performed on Saturday. Yagasala puja, vigneswara puja, divya homam, poornahudi and deeparthana were also performed.

`Don't dump garbage'

The All India Youth Federation of the Manaparai unit, iny a resolution passed at its recent meeting, urged the Manaparai municipality to desist from dumping garbage along the Park Road.

By another resolution, the AIYF demanded police action against those extracting money by promising employment.

Mettur level

The level in the Mettur reservoir stood at 24.84 feet today. The inflow was 32 cusecs and the discharge was 55 cusecs.
