Naidu from Kuppam again

HYDERABAD, MARCH 21. The Telugu Desam president, N. Chandrababu Naidu, virtually blushed while announcing his re-nomination as party candidate from Kuppam Assembly constituency today.

After declaring the name of the constituency, Mr. Naidu tried to gloss over the task of reading out his name from the sheaf of papers he was holding. But, there was clapping, cheering and slogan-shouting from the audience, as the answer was obvious.

However, party seniors like K. Yerran Naidu, T. Devender Goud and Lal Jan Basha would have none of it. They insisted that the candidate's name be formally announced and Mr. Naidu had no option other than obliging them.

Even before the TDP chief completed his address, a basketful of laddus went round the front rows and the City Mayor, Teegala Krishna Reddy, was seen offering a sweet to J. R. Pushparaj whose name had been announced a few minutes earlier as TDP candidate from Tadikonda (SC).

Several Ministers and party candidates, who were present, met the TDP chief to express gratitude for reposing confidence in them.
