Letters to the Editor
Sir, The formal entry of Rahul Gandhi in politics will be a major blow to the Bharatiya Janata Party, which is harping on Sonia Gandhi's foreign origin issue. It will certainly deflect the BJP's high-voltage campaign.
Vijayalakshmi Jaisankar,
Sir, Rahul Gandhi's entry in the electoral fray is on expected lines. Priyanka Vadra too can be expected to make her debut soon. The Gandhi siblings who have grown up in a political milieu certainly deserve a place in electoral politics. Their ascendance is a far healthier sign than overnight stars-turned-politicians suddenly finding the inspiration to serve the people.
Jayasree Sarnathan,
Sir, Giving Rahul Gandhi the ticket to contest from Amethi may be a strategy to counter the campaign against Ms. Gandhi's foreign origin. In keeping with Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's call for a dignified campaign, it is time to shift the focus from individuals to the interests of the nation.
T. Prabhakara Rao,
Sir, How can a person who does not have even an iota of political experience contest a Lok Sabha seat on the Congress ticket?
Murali Krishna,
