Tobacco Board employees call off agitation

By Our Staff Reporter

GUNTUR, MARCH 22. Employees of the Tobacco Board called off their agitation on Monday with the farmers' representatives giving assurance to them to fully cooperate in the auction and a unanimous resolution to that effect was adopted at a meeting here.

At the end of a meeting called by the Tobacco Board Chairman, P. Dayachari, with representatives of farmers, board Officers' Association and Employees Association at the headquarters along with business representatives, it was decided to reopen all the tobacco trading floors in the State from Tuesday.

There being very little time left for the staff to give indent to farmers to bring stocks to the auction floors, auction would practically begin on Wednesday. The farmer, who had thrown petrol on an auction superintendent at Kaligiri in Nellore on Friday last and allegedly attempted to set him on fire, has been arrested and sent to remand.
