The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam Board of Trustees, which met here on Monday, resolved to constitute "Saranagathi mandalis'' in all the districts of the State, to propagate spirituality and develop bhakthi. Briefing mediapersons on the deliberations of the meeting, the board chairman, D. K. Audikesavulu, who also chaired the meeting, said the main aim of constituting Saranagathi mandalis was to create spiritual awareness among the public. One mandal from each district would be identified where the TTD- run Dharma Prachara Parishad (DPP) Alwar Divya Prabandha project, S.V. Medical College and the Dasa Sahitya project would collectively organise spiritual programmes, including mythological drama and stage shows. The identified mandal would have at least five villages under its hold. The board also resolved to constitute local advisory committees at the places where the TTD had its own kalyana mandapam and information centre for better functioning and upkeep of the buildings. "Balalayam'' at Sri Padmavathi temple of Tiruchanoor would be performed on April 5 to enable carryout the gold gilding works to the temple Vimanam and Garbhalaya Prakaram. The project, estimated at around Rs. 1.5 crores, was expected to be completed in about two months. Several donors had already come forward to share the cost of the project. A multi purpose complex consisting of a dormitory, canteen and a parade ground would be constructed at Alipiri at a cost of Rs. 1 crore. The board resolved to invite tenders to remove giant-size boulders menacingly hanging at the eighth km on the second ghat road to Tirumala at a cost of Rs. 27 lakhs. The board members, V.R. Panchamukhi and G. Srinivasulu, and the Executive Officer, Ajeya Kallam, were present.
