NEW DELHI, MARCH 22. Indian boxers' hopes of qualifying for the Olympic Games hinged by the thin wire as four of them made it to the semifinals of the second Olympic qualifier in Guangzhou (China), on Monday. Light-heavy Jitender Kumar, lightweight Ramanand, bantamweight Diwakar Prasad and flyweight Akhil Kumar, were the four who made it to the last four stage of the 33-nation competition, dominated by China, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan. Though the Indian camp would celebrate the progress of the quartet, the exit of the Commonwealth Games gold medallist Mohammed Ali Qamar really dampened the Indian spirits. Apart from light-fly Qamar, the light-welter Vijender Singh also lost in quarterfinal on Monday. Besides the finalists, the boxer losing his semifinal bout to the eventual gold medallist will also get a berth in the Athens Olympic competition. The third and final Olympic qualifier will be held in Karachi from May 5 to 13. By Our Sports Reporter
