Tirupati
By Our Special Correspondent
TIRUPATI, MARCH 22. The Chairman of the TTD Trust Board and liquor baron, D.K. Audikesavulu, is said to be in the race for the TDP ticket for the Chittoor Lok Sabha seat. Though the sitting incumbent, N.Ramakrishna Reddy, is seeking renomination, the party high command may shift him to the Punganur Assembly segment in view of his ill-health which eventually leaves the seat open for contest from a couple of strong contenders. Mr Audikesavulu is no stranger to politics and in fact as an astute industrialist never rubbed any party-- be it Congress, TDP or BJP-- on the wrong side but on the other hand maintained relations with them on a rather quid pro quo basis. He was in fact the treasurer of the AICC during P.V. Narasimha Rao's time. As such his recent selection for the coveted TTD Trust Board's Chairmanship by the TDP supremo, Chandrababu Naidu, is proof of the business magnate's `friendly relations' with all. He is not averse to contest the Chittoor parliamentary seat and is said to have said as much to Mr Chandrababu Naidu when he was closeted with him recently during his visit to the temple town. Among those vying for the Congress ticket for the Chittoor seat is Chandrababu Naidu's estranged younger brother, Nara Ramamurthy Naidu. But sources said that the Congress was not too keen these days to use him as its card anymore after the initial euphoria created when he crossed floors to the party following serious differences with his elder brother.
