It is stale and pale: BJP chief

By Our Special Correspondent

BANGALORE, MARCH 22. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president, M. Venkaiah Naidu, said here today that the Congress manifesto was a "bundle of contradictions" and lacking in conviction. He told presspersons the manifesto was "stale and pale" and had nothing to offer to people. The BJP, on the other hand, would come out with a vision document for the nation.

Mr. Naidu said ``the problems besieging the country such as Kashmir, north-east, regional imbalances, unemployment, illiteracy and poverty, were offshoots of the over 40-year Congress misrule. It was now speaking of Centre-State relations when it had used Article 356 numerous times to dismiss popularly-elected governments.''

Referring to the Congress talking about coalition, he asked, "Who are its partners?" The BJP was clear on its partners and on the leadership issue. On the issue of alliance with the Janata Dal (United), he said, it would be sorted out.
