Congress has run out of ideas: Swamy
By Our Special Correspondent
CHENNAI,
MARCH 22.
The Janata Party president, Subramanian Swamy, today said the Congress manifesto revealed the "intellectual and moral bankruptcy" of that party. "Not only has the party run out of steam, but under Sonia Gandhi's leadership, it has run out of ideas as well," he said in a statement.
The manifesto was a "mishmash of inconsistent policies woven with stale platitudes," he said. "Adherence to secularism is inconsistent with superstition such as the recent felling of trees in the Congress party office in Lucknow to appease gods."
The manifesto talked of employment, but failed to explain why the party, while in power for 45 years at the Centre could not ensure full employment. It was also silent about combating terrorism, especially about the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam because of its alignment with the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, Pattali Makkal Katchi, and the Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, he said.
