Police, naxals exchange fire

ONGOLE, MARCH 22. An exchange of fire took place between the People's War naxalites and the combing police parties near Lakshmipuram in Ardhaveedu mandal of Prakasam district around 10.30 p.m. on Sunday night, according to the Markapur Additional Superintendent of Police, Maneesh Kumar Sinha.

About 30 rounds were fired by the naxalites and the police. However, no casualties from either side were reported. The naxalites disappeared into the forest and nothing was recovered from the encounter site, the Additional SP said.
