ADILABAD, MARCH 22. Two women naxalites carrying rewards on their head surrendered before the Adilabad district Superintendent of Police, Mahesh M. Bhagwat, on Monday. Kotnaka Jangubai alias Swaroopakka, section commander, PGA 7th platoon of the People's War (PW), and Ade Jangubai alias Niranjanakka alias Jayakka, Mangi dalam member, both of Dedra village in Bazarhatnoor, surrendered thereby further depleting the ranks of People's War extremists in the district. The former carried a reward of Rs. 50,000 in the process of being upgraded to Rs. 2 lakh and the latter carried a reward of Rs. 20,000. Due to Dedra villagers being attracted towards extremism, the district police had adopted the village under its `Police Mee Kosam' programme in 2001. Since then, there was a relentless effort by the police to obtain surrenders of the villagers who had gone underground. There were six persons from Dedra village who had worked for the People's War. Beside these two, Shantakka had died of illness and Kavitakka was arrested in Dandakaranya in Maharashtra-Madhya Pradesh. Only Kumra Shivaji alias Vinod and Sangeetakka still remain under ground. Swaroopakka and Jayakka had participated in many deadly exchanges of fire with the police and destruction of public property. Both had joined the banned outfit in 1998.
