Jayalalithaa betrayed State on Cauvery issue: Vaiko

By Our Staff Reporter

TIRUCHI, MARCH 22. The Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK) general secretary, Vaiko, today likened the Parliamentary election to mid-term poll to the State Assembly.

Addressing roadside meetings at the Samayapuram toll gate, Valady and Lalgudi falling under the Tiruchi Lok Sabha constituency, Mr. Vaiko said the All-India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) rule was a curse on Tamil Nadu. "If voters do not teach a fitting lesson to the regime, extremist thinking will prevail among the younger generation," he said. The Jayalalithaa regime, he said, had perpetrated atrocities on all sections of society, particularly farmers, Government employees and the business community.

On the Cauvery issue, he alleged that Ms. Jayalalithaa betrayed the interests of Tamil Nadu by questioning the powers of the Tribunal set up in 1990 at the initiative of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) chief, Karunanidhi, when he was Chief Minister.
